joongkeeleeProf. Dr. Joong Kee Lee (이중기)

Prof.  Lee is head of the Advanced Energy Materials Processing Laboratory at the Center for Energy Convergence which is part of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). He is also working as a professor at the Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering, Korea University of Science and Technology (UST). He has more than 30 years of experience in Chemical Engineering. His research interests have focused on the application of reaction engineering techniques to problems in surface modification, carbon composite and coating of carbonaceous films, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. His specific interest includes deposition of metals or metal oxide films on the surface of plastic substrate at room temperature by ECR-MOCVD and fine particle coating by fluid suspension technology. Now his research team moves its research focus to the application of energy and information materials, for example, electrode materials of lithium secondary batteries and Lithium ion capacitor, smart window, transparent conductive oxide film such as F doped tin oxide and zinc oxide. He has authored and coauthored over 184 (SCI 134) Journals and 78 patents. He is a vice president of Korea Battery Society, and a member of Electrochemical Society and Material Research Society. He was awarded a medal for outstanding scientific achievements from Korean Government on April.

cwcDr. Wonchang Choi (최원창)

Dr. Wonchang Choi is a senior research scientist in Advanced Energy Materials Processing Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science & Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, USA in 2007. After his doctoral degree, he worked as a R&D Staff Member at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology until 2011. His research interest is in the area of materials science and solid-state chemistry with a particular focus on synthesizing electrode materials and studying electrochemical reaction kinetics. The electrochemical active materials of interest range from ‘transition metal oxides’ and ‘metal-alloy’ to ‘fuctional nano-particles’ and ‘composite materials’ for energy storage applications such as rechargeable batteries and capacitors.

jungDr. Hun-Gi Jung (정훈기)

Dr. Hun-Gi Jung is a research scientist in Advanced Energy Materials Processing Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Hanyang University,Republic of Korea in 2012. During his Ph.D., he worked on nanostructured anode materials for Li-ion batteries.After his doctoral degree, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Hanyang University and Korea Institute of Science and Technology in field of next generation secondary batteries. His current research is focused mainly on nanostructured materials and novel system for energy conversion and storage applications such as Li- ion battery, Li- air battery, Li-S battery and fuel cell.

 jbjBup Ju Jeon, Ph.D (전법주)

Dr. Jeon is a professor at the Department of Energy & Environmental Engineering, Shinhan University. He received the Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Dankook University, Seoul, Korea in 1997. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Waterloo. He has studied in the field of surface modification application, transparent conductive film, optical sensor, electronic materials using ECR plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process and MOCVD at low temperature. His current interests are in the area of energy storage nano materials, renewable energy, photon energy conversion and TCO (Transparent conductive oxide), large-scaled ECR CVD and inline system.

4Dr. Xuyan Liu

Dr. Liu worked at Key Laboratory of Advanced Metal-based Electrical Power Materials, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology since 2013. After earning her doctorate from Chungnam National University in 2011, she started the postdoctoral research at KIST until Dec.2012. Her research interests focus on Three-dimensional bicontinuous nanoporous flims and Biomimetic materials processing. She is now having a cooperative work with our lab and preparing ordered templates with large area for electrode materials.

glDr. Guicheng Liu (유계성)

Dr. Guicheng Liu is a KRF post-doc research fellow in Advanced Energy Materials Processing Laboratory. He received his Ph. D. degree from University ofScience and Technology Beijing, China in 2013, and then worked at Beijing Institute of Nanoenergyand Nanosystems, Chinese Academy ofSciences as a post-doctoral research fellow until 8/2015. His research backgrounds include fuel cell, solar cell, lithium ion battery and supercapacitor. His current main research interest is theflexible power generation/storage integrated device


DOCTORAL STUDENTS

kayA-Young Kim (김아영)

Kim a-young earned her bachelor degree in Department of Materials Science and Engineering from Hanbat National University (HNU) in 2010. She continued her master degree on the same field at Korea University (KU), Seoul in which she finished the program on February 2012. After graduating, she is now working as a researcher at AEMPL-KIST. Her research interest is currently focused on anode material for energy storage devices such as lithium ion batteries and lithium ion capacitors.

 

martinMartin Halim (마틴 할림)

Martin Halim graduated from Catholic University of Parahyangan (Indonesia) majoring in Chemical Engineering in 2010. He took some of Master courses while he was doing his last year for undergraduate study (2009). In May 2011, he got his master degree from the same university majoring in Management of Technology in Process Industries which is still related to Chemical Engineering study program. In August 2012, he started his doctoral degree at University of Science and Technology under KIST IRDA program. He is now doing research on lithium ion capacitor, particularly about porous silicon material. This research includes silicon preparation using plasma torch and etching technique to make porous silicon material.

Lee Yongho earned his first degree in Chemical Engineering from SoonCheonHyang University in 2012. He has been starting his master degree on the Department of Electrochemical Materials Laboratory at University of HanYang since spring semester 2012. Mr. Lee research interest is currently focused on cathode material for energy storage devices such as Li-ion batteries and Na-ion batteries.

Mr. Enggar earned his bachelor degree in Department of Physics at University of Indonesia in June 2013. He took Physics as his major and Condensed Matter Physics as his sub-major in bachelor degree level.  In February 2016, he started his master combined by doctoral degree at University of Science and Technology (UST) under Korea Institute of Science and Technology International Research and Development Academy (KIST IRDA) program. His research interests include, but not limited to, thin film deposition by using RF-PATE coupled with CVD system for applications of battery and solar cell. Currently, his research focuses on the anode of lithium-ion battery, particularly about tin-based materials and carbon-based materials.
